Overview

Our range of digital and analogue input/output expansion modules are designed to enable simple and scalable and low-cost I/O extension for our Motion Coordinators. In addition to 24V input, output and bi-directional modules, there are relay and analogue I/O modules.

Comms

CANbus is used for communication and control between the Motion Coordinator and the CAN I/O modules. CANbus is a tried and tested, well known data link in industry which is reliable, noise immune and flexible. All CAN I/O modules are compatible with any Motion Coordinator that has a CANbus port.

Protocols

As well as being able to connect to any Motion Coordinator using Trio’s own high speed CANbus protocol, each CAN module can run the DS401 CANopen protocol allowing them to be used with other CANopen masters. Protocol selection is by DIP switches on the front of the module.

 

When using the TrioCANbus protocol, a Motion Coordinator can handle up to 16 Digital Input modules and 16 Digital Output modules, a total of 32 Digital modules and 4 Analogue modules. The CAN 16 I/O module counts as one Input and one Output module.

The Trio CAN16 Output module offers a compact DIN rail mounted output expansion capability for all Trio Motion Coordinators.

Up to 16 P317 modules may be connected to the CAN network which may be up to 100m long.

This provides 256 distributed output channels at 24Vdc level. All points are short-circuit proof and completely isolated from the CANbus. P317 modules may be mixed on the same bus, with other types in the Trio CAN I/O range.

The Trio CANbus I/O expansion can considerably reduce machine wiring.

The Trio CAN16 Input module offers a compact DIN rail mounted output expansion capability for all Trio Motion Coordinators.

Up to 16 P318 modules may be connected to the CAN network which may be up to 100m long.

CAN-8-in / 4-out Analogue

The CAN Analogue I/O module offers a compact DIN rail mounted analogue input/output capability for Trio Motion Coordinators.

Each module provides 8 channels of 12-bit (+/-10V) analogue inputs and 4 channels of 12-bit (+/-10V) analogue outputs.

Up to 4 modules may be connected to the CAN link which may be up to 100m long, considerably reducing machine wiring.

CAN-8 Relay Out

The Trio CAN8 Relay module offers a compact DIN rail mounted relay output expansion capability for all Trio Motion Coordinators.

P327

Up to 16 P327 modules may be connected to the CAN network which may be up to 100m long.

This provides 128 distributed low power relay channels at up to 30Vdc or 49Vac. All output points are Volt-free contacts and are completely isolated from the CANbus. P327 modules may be mixed on the same bus, with other types in the Trio CAN I/O range.
